Based: Havelock North, Hawke’s Bay
David Guerin works with a wide range of materials, depending on his purpose and subject matter. For the past few years this has meant a combination of native timber, bronze and soft stone (marble, ignimbrite pumice stone, sandstone and limestone).
Since the mid-90s, David has focussed on images inspired by Maori art forms - te poutokomanawa (the land marker), te koruru, (the mask) and te tekoteko (the human figure).
David holds an MFA from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a Post-Graduate Diploma of Fine Arts from Elam. He balances his artistic endeavours with his work as a secondary school art and graphics teacher.
David is also a member of Medal Artists New Zealand and Federation Internationale de la Medaille.
