Based: Waipawa, Central Hawke’s Bay
Jan Gosling has been creating limestone sculpture from her studio in Waipawa for the last ten years.
Many of Jan’s pieces are inspired by New Zealand’s natural environment, and feature flowing forms such as water, ferns and seashells. Other examples of Jan’s work explore the human form, using soft curves, finely sanded finishes, and the natural play between light and shadow on the white stone.
Previously Jan has worked with wood, and many of the techniques she uses now have been self-taught or adapted from wood-caring techniques.
