Born: Ipswich, England, 1952
Based: Whanganui Keith Grinter works in a range of media including glass (painted and blown), sculpture from Oamaru stone and recycled timber, painting and printmaking.
His recent sculpture have been installations of timber works based on blind contour drawings made while walking in Whanganui. His recent glass work and painting have used the same drawings. The concept of drawing while walking to investigate the everyday was developed for his Masters degree.
Keith exhibits mostly in Whanganui and Wellington, including Te Papa, Pataka and Tamarillo galleries, has won The Doyle and Anne Robinson Glass prizes and been a finalist in the Australasian Ranamok glass prize. His exhibition, Shed Project: Fifth Iteration was exhibited in the Bottle Creek Gallery at Pataka, Porirua from July 22 to August 17th, 2010.
Keith is a Tutor at the Quay School of Arts, UCOL, Whanganui, where he completed a BFA in 2007. He has just been awarded a Master of Art and Design (First Class) from AUT.
