Based: Napier, Hawke’s Bay Lex Benson-Cooper is best known for his paintings, and his work has developed a strong following in New Zealand and abroad.
He uses a variety of other materials too however, and worked as a basket maker for ten years, as well as spending five years making ceramic art.
Lex graduated from the Fine Arts program at EIT in 1994.He was published in Seen this Century, 100 Contemporary NZ Artists – A Collector’s Guide in 2009 and has been a finalist in the Wallace Art Awards.
Lex has also had winning entries in the Mainland Art Awards, the Norsewear Art Awards and the Hawke’s Bay Review.
