Based: Havelock North, Hawke's Bay Linda graduated from Exeter College of Art with a Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture. She maintains a creative art practice as well as teaching Art and Yoga. Linda recently exhibited in the sculptural window of Hastings City Art Gallery and her ceramic sculptures featured in the first Wildflower Exhibition.
Linda has completed two public sculpture commissions which evoke the spiritual significance of bird and wing forms as relevant symbols for our communities. The stainless and corten steel sculpture “The Eye of the Hawk” stands in the centre of Waipukurau and a pierced concrete form “Wall of Wings” was constructed for the Havelock North Village square.
Works constructed in the artist's studio are sculpted using stoneware clay which allows for some spontaneity in the application of ideas. Linda evokes concerns for humanity in sculptural concepts that refer to various mythological influences. These organic heads and torsos are stylised with patterned layers that reveal an inner shrine that may be enhanced by using the sculptural form as a light source.
